Overview
Rather than test blindly and hope, the work built a model from the underlying physics that said what the system should do — then checked reality against it.
Challenge
The system was expensive and slow to test, and intuition was running out. A predictive framework was needed before committing to a costly experimental campaign.
Approach
Derived the governing relations from first principles, reduced them with dimensional analysis to the parameters that actually matter, and implemented the model numerically so predictions could be generated quickly.
Outcome
A model that predicted behaviour ahead of testing and told the team which experiments were worth running — turning a guessing game into a targeted campaign.
